  BACKGROUND.   Born into a food shortage during an Ala Mhigan siege, Bulma's upbringing left much to be desired. She'd seen more than her fair share of war and carnage by the time she was adopted by a young viera and miqo'te couple, when, despite her stubborn nature, they offered her a second chance at life. They encouraged her to branch out, to try new things, and even taught her how to garden, wanting nothing more than to show her the small joys that the world had to offer. One summer she joined ranks among the local archer's guild to save some gil, and once she could afford it, Bulma packed a bag and began to travel.It wasn't long before the small miqo'te had mastered the art of blending in. If there was a corner for her to hide behind or a crowd she could melt into, you could bet she'd be there. She realized there was more to each community that met the eye, much more than anyone was willing to share outright. A vicious curiosity brewed in the back of her mind, fixating on the whispers that seemed to saturate every city she visited. Satisfied that she'd finally experienced the happiness she'd been deprived of as a kit, she now yearned to know the ins and outs of the darker corners of Eorzea, too.Regardless of how hard her adopted parents had worked to soften her around the edges, Bulma was a survivor through and through - and to the right employer, she was the perfect trainee. The young woman soon found herself being scouted by a very tight-nit family business in Yanxia - one known only to the very wealthy and the very dangerous.   BACKGROUND.   Even as a you girl, Claire was wickedly sharp minded. However, it wouldn't have taken a chirugeons to realize that being the only Viera child in Foundation, and one of the very few in all of Coerthas, that Claire was the target of mockery and judgement from people of all ages. She was a quiet child, learning the ins and outs of the social hierarchy from her parents and their interactions, as well as the failures and successes of her peers. Because of the bullying that had taken root at school, Claire’s parents decided it was best to homeschool her instead, which inevitably turned their well intentioned protectiveness and love into obsessive paranoia, smothering her chances at social growth.Desperately seeking some sort of creative outlet, Claire took up needlepoint and the art of lace making whenever she wasn’t studying. The fine detail work was something she found relaxing, and the fact that the classes took place in a shop on the other side of town offered her a much needed escape from the watchful eyes of her mother and father. After a few months one of the instructors offered the Veena an apprenticeship at their shop, where she’d train under a dress-maker who worked exclusively for the women of Ishgard’s high houses.It wasn’t long before Claire was making strides of her own, taking commissions from men and women alike for all sorts of garments. She’d found her passion and ran with it, convincing the head designer to hand over the business to her once he was ready to retire, officially making her the youngest business owner in the Jeweled Crozier. As her work grew in popularity she found herself creating designs for people all over Coerthas - but word spread quickly, and soon she was receiving orders from as far out as La Noscea.

  BACKGROUND.   After nearly a decade of living a nomadic lifestyle with two young sons, Moku and Sagra Soleil returned to the land of the Dusk Mother when they discovered they were going to have a daughter. With a Raen mother and a Xaela father, a baby girl born with pearly white scales that gleamed in the sun amongst a tribe of Xaela men and women was something none of the elders, let alone her parents, could’ve ever imagined.Myria, one of very few women to be born into their tribe, was protected to a fault. The adults in her life did everything they could to snuff out her curiosity - always responding with worried expressions and dismissive comments any time she asked questions about the world beyond the village walls. One source of solace, however, was the little Raen girls’ older brothers. They were her best friends and greatest teachers, regaling her with stories of their hunts and adventures across the vast landscape of the Steppe. Wanting nothing more than to join them in their escapades, she begged to follow in their footsteps in the fields only to be told no at every turn. Instead, she was tutored rigorously in the art of white magic for years, eventually being assigned the position of personal healer and caretaker of the village elder.Myria had heard whispers around town that the elderly Xaela’s mind was going, and that he would likely require care at all hours of the day. To her surprise, however, the man seemed to light up when she’d walk into the yurt. Excited to share stories of his own youth, he was lively and animated, always bringing a smile to Myria’s face. One afternoon she broke down, confessing her dreams of adventure and deep disappointment knowing they’d never come to fruition. The elder snapped her out of it, scolding her for such pessimism, before tossing her a notebook, launching into a recounting of every survival tactic he could think of.He taught her what beasts were easiest to track and how to do so, listing the local fauna and ranking it from easiest to most difficult to slay. He taught her about fishing and foraging, even how to build a bow and a trappers kit, should she ever find herself on the run. She learned about different types of flowers and mushrooms, what was safe to eat and what wasn't. How to purify water, and what poisonous plants she'd have to look out for.As the sun began to set and he finished his lecture, the old man settled back in his chair with a wink, letting her know that a trader would be in town the following day and would likely need a volunteer to assist with moving a shipment of textiles across the Ruby Sea to Kugane. Before he sent her home for the night he penned a note to her parents, calling for their understanding as he’d enlisted her to join the couriers that would arrive the next day.Through a tearful exchange, Myria kissed her parents goodbye and hugged her brothers tightly, promising to write as soon as they docked in the city. Just before the caravan made its departure, the village elder ducked out of his tent to offer a knowing smile, waving farewell as the young woman began her journey across the plains to a brighter future.

  BACKGROUND.   It was the early days of the Ala Mhigan resistance, and the J tribe was fighting tooth and nail for their homeland. One fateful day on the battlefield, however, would shake the tribe to the core, as their Tia was captured by a Garlean squadron. Upon hearing the news, the surviving women uprooted their lives and fled, finding refuge within the camp at Little Ala Mhigo. It wasn't long after that an impatient and fiery soul, Rhaina, would be born.It was clear early on that J'rhaina's patience for tradition was thin, unimpressed with her tribes' decision to keep her heritage hidden. With no knowledge of who might've been her birthmother, nor ever having met her father, anger grew deep within the Miqo'te for years before it boiled over. She was not cut out for the quiet life, merely hunting game and keeping the camp tidy. Rhaina wanted so much more. She longed to fight for a nation she hardly knew, dreaming for a brighter future not just for herself, but for all displaced members of her community. But the women of the tribe were satisfied with what they had, a safety net and stability outside the vibrant city of Ul'dah.It wasn't until a particularly heated fight with one of the elders that Rhaina made her choice -- she was done living in fear. She took pride in teaching her younger siblings the intricacies of archery, and looked up to her mother, whose aim was truly unmatched.But as she grew into her own, the dark haired miqo'te found herself drawn to a much gentler trade: the art of leatherworking.She learned quickly, observing the tribe's artisans by day and honing her own craft by firelight. Her progress and passion were clear to any onlooker. Kana knew she'd found her calling.By her fifteenth summer she finally received permission to move to Gridania to study with the Leather Worker's Guild. And so, with a dream in her heart and an awl on her belt, Kana set off.As the years passed her talent soared, and the young woman would be offered the esteemed position of personal tailor for the Elder Seed Seer herself.

  BACKGROUND.   Kiht Eleion was a kind and gentle woman from the North Shroud, a Keeper of the Moon miqo'te who inherited Hyrstmill's local textile shop from her grandmother when she was just 17 summers old. Many years would pass before she'd have a daughter of her own, and to her relief, her baby Leih would harbor the same love of the arts as she did.As a child, Leih took a distinct interest in sketching and painting. She'd grown up meeting adventurers from far and wide as they'd come to visit their local blacksmith, and she couldn't help but marvel at each and every one. Like all the children in the town, Leih could be found begging them to share their stories at any given time, be them of glory and power, or of loss and betrayal, she didn't much care what the subject matter was. It all fed her daydreams as she practiced her needlepoint, visions of magical battles and mystical monsters filling her imagination and inspiring her late-night drawings.As time went on, Leih's passion for art only grew, and she was happy to put her talents to work to assist her mother's trade. It made their products unique - all of their lace designs being hand woven by Leih herself, and their signiture cloth-based armor would be hand dyed by Kiht to perfection. Some of their best works would take months to complete, but their attention to detail and otherworldly determination to create high quality works of art would, of course, garner the Eleions widespread notoriety.Years passed, however, and it came time for Kiht to retire. Leih offered to stay and take on the family business, but her mother wouldn't hear it. She encouraged Leih to further her training, all but shoving her out the door when an offer from Sharlayan's esteemed Phenomenon arrived, inviting her to accept an apprenticeship for a master weaver with the Makers' Meet.Leih now lives in the dormitories at the Baldesian Annex, taking a multitude of courses in fashion history and textile craftmanship at the Studium.
